Strong wind gusts as high as 46 mph swept through southwestern Connecticut Wednesday, downing trees and power lines.
Wildemere Street in Fairfield was shut down while utility crews worked to remove a large tree that fell onto the roadway.
Another tree crashed through a Fairfield home. A resident of the house says she is lucky because her bedroom is directly beneath the spot where the tree hit, but she happened to be taking a nap in the back of the house.
The high winds also caused some power outages throughout the region, with Stamford, New Canaan and Greenwich being hit the hardest.
