After 50 years of serving the community, an iconic Long Island restaurant will be shutting its doors for good at the end of the business day today.
The Plainview Diner is serving its last western omelet, cheddar cheese burger and souvlaki today.
The diner first opened in 1972, and has been serving residents for the 50 years since.
The eatery on Old Country Road has been a tradition for locals and visitors alike, many of whom have brought generations of family members to eat here.
Now its owner has decided to retire. The popular diner known for its Greek and American classics will be missed by staff and customers.
“I feel at home here….The food is excellent, service is good,” says customer Elaine Bassin, of Plainview.
