Mountain Creek Resort celebrated the conclusion of a record-breaking winter season last Sunday with its high-energy annual Pond Skim.

The event saw skiers and snowboarders attempt to glide across a custom-built pool of icy water to mark the transition into warmer spring weather. This year’s festivities carried extra weight as the resort reported record turnout and conditions for the 2025-2026 season.

The celebration comes just one week after the resort partnered with Ski4All, a New Jersey-based nonprofit, to host a special day on the slopes for foster youth and children facing hardship.

Founded in 2016 by New Jersey native Cory Gorczycki when he was only 14, Ski4All was created to help children find confidence and emotional well-being through winter sports. Gorczycki started the organization after losing two grandparents, discovering that skiing provided a vital outlet for his grief.

“What began as a personal outlet has grown into a nonprofit that has organized more than 40 ski days across three states,” resort officials said. To date, the program has introduced more than 400 children to the sport.

While the Pond Skim signals the unofficial start of the “spring transition” at the mountain, resort management emphasized the impact of community collaborations like the one with Ski4All. By providing equipment and lift tickets, Mountain Creek aimed to ensure that the power of outdoor recreation is accessible to the state’s most vulnerable youth before the snow melts.

Since its inception nearly a decade ago, Ski4All has expanded significantly, but its mission remains rooted in the belief that a single day on the mountain can change a child’s outlook.
