Among the latest in spine surgery is a procedure that allows doctors to tailor 'spine surgery' specifically to a patient's needs. At St. Vincent's Medical Center there was the first "awake" spine surgery. Neurosurgeon Dr. Vijay Yanamadala with Hartford HealthCare Ayer Neuroscience Institute Spine Wellness Center in Westport is the surgeon who led both surgical teams.
