Janitors, commercial building cleaners rally in Hartford for improved contracts

The union argues that its members should be rewarded with a wage increase because of the risks they took during the COVID pandemic.

Hundreds of commercial building cleaners and janitors with contracts all over the tri-state area rallied for improved contracts at the Old State House in Hartford.
Janitors and building cleaners held a speaking program before marching to the capital city's iconic boat building. They stood side by side with Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz and Attorney General William Tong.
Workers are protesting how current contract negotiations are going. The union argues that its members should be rewarded with a wage increase because of the risks they took during the COVID pandemic.
The current deal for commercial building cleaners is set to expire on Dec. 31.
