Police say two Stratford parents let their 2-year-old son wander out of their Broad Street house as they slept early Friday.
Thomas Yemm, 62 and Wendy Canfield, 51, now face charges for the incident. They told police they put the baby to bed at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, according to authorities.
But police say a jogger saw their child walking in the street with a full diaper. A neighbor took him in until police arrived.
Police say the couple may have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Neighbors say the child has a habit of wandering off.
The parents declined to comment and directed News 12 to their attorney, Mark Sherman, who blamed the incident on an unlatched back door, which he says has been fixed.
"These are dedicated, loving parents who are happy to have their son back home," he says.
