A Greenwich man spoke to News 12 Connecticut Friday about a video taken by his wife, which he says shows drivers blatantly ignoring him and his son as they try to cross the street.
Johans Orbegoso says he is scared for his son's safety because of what he sees at his bus stop daily. The video was taken Thursday at the corner of Mason Street and Bruce Park Avenue, as Orbegoso got his son Sebastian off the bus and faced several close calls as the pair tried to cross the street.
He says drivers come flying around corners, ignore stop signs, and do not yield to pedestrians.
Greenwich police say drivers need to remember that pedestrians always have the right of way, and that if you don't yield to a school bus, the fine is over $400. They say they will be stepping up patrols in school zones for Pedestrian Safety Month next month.
Orbegoso says he is going to keep pushing to make drivers aware of pedestrians crossing the street.
