The Lehman Lady Lightning looked to return to the CUNY Athletic Conference semifinals as they hosted John Jay Friday.
Lehman has had no problem handling the Bloodhounds during the regular season, sweeping them in March. However, John Jay came to play and the game was a pitcher?s duel the whole ride.
Shortstop Magdalena Reyes was a major factor for Lehman, starting a double play in the top of the second. She later came up in the bottom of the third and hustled a hit into a three-run inside-the-park home run.
The score stayed tied at 1 until the top of the seventh when John Jay put the game away. The Bloodhounds scored four runs, an offensive blast the Lightning couldn?t overcome. Lehman went on to lose 5-4 to John Jay. As a result, they were eliminated from tournament play.
