Following last month's Stamford chimpanzee attack, state lawmakers are proposing a crackdown on exotic pets, and one kangaroo owner worries that could affect her.
Sue Plains claims "Joey" is harmless. One zoologist says larger kangaroos can be dangerous, growing to 200 pounds and possessing tremendously powerful legs. The kangaroo in Trumbull, though, is only 65 pounds. Old for a kangaroo, 12-year-old Joey has lived his entire life with Plains, and she believes the animal would not survive without her.
"He's part of our family and we're concerned with [the] new law since he's older and for him to be separated from us would just destroy him," Plains says.
