Gov. Ned Lamont wants more Connecticut schools to go green and install solar panels.
Lamont stopped by Tisko Elementary in Branford, which recently installed dozens of panels on the roof.
The governor is pushing legislation that would relax caps on the number of new solar projects and create a new fund for schools to install the panels.
The bill would also require school districts to do a "solar feasibility assessment" on at least one campus.
Nonpartisan analysts say the study could cost more than $100,000. Branford expects to save twice that amount in power bills over the next 20 years.
