The final superdelegate from Connecticut Democratic delegation has thrown her support to Barack Obama.
State Democratic Chairwoman Nancy DiNardo had held back her endorsement for months, saying she wanted to wait until the primaries were over. The final primaries, in Montana and South Dakota, are Tuesday and Obama is poised to declare victory over rival Hillary Rodham Clinton.
DiNardo told The Associated Press that the decision was not easy. She says she spoke to Obama Friday night and spent the weekend consulting other Democrats.
DiNardo says Clinton has the right to continue her campaign, but she hopes that the party is unified before the Democratic national convention in August.
Clinton has the backing of two Connecticut superdelegates. DiNardo is the 10th Connecticut superdelegate to back Obama.
