The smell of fresh pretzels and baked goods filled the air at The Westchester Mall on Monday, with many stores bustling with last-minute holiday shoppers.
The shoppers, visiting from as far away as the West Coast, were excited to experience the mall and its one-of-a-kind, festive decor.
One shopper was Alisher Bazarov, from Seattle, Washington, who had spent the past four days exploring New York City with his family.
"Our kids wanted a Christmas in New York, so we're visiting and so happen to be last-minute shopping," said Bazarov.
Another last-minute shopper was Devantres Toussaint, who was at the mall looking for a gift for his mother and girlfriend.
He had come from Stamford, Connecticut to visit the mall.
"I like this mall better," he said. "Stamford doesn't really have anything...Norwalk Mall does, but I like New York shopping better."
Director of marketing Alyssa Bitts was happy with the turnout.
"Traffic has been great, the mall has been busy. Seeing lots of people coming out, I think a lot of our retailers have really driven in more traffic," says Bitts.
Meanwhile, pedestrians on Mamaroneck Avenue in White Plains were going at a slower pace, with many saying they opted for online gift shopping to avoid mall madness.
"I'm a teacher so usually when I get home from school, I'm pretty tired, so it's much easier to just go online shopping, find what need, get it delivered, and then just take care of it from there," said Manhattan teacher Kayla Burke.
