Six months after the death of Lauren Smith Fields, a march is planned in her memory for Saturday.
The family says this march is to keep her legacy front and center in the public's mind.
They also say tributes for Smith Fields continue to pour in.
The case resulted in the passage of what is now called Lauren's Law, new state legislation that requires law enforcement agencies to inform families of a loved one's death in a timely fashion, something her family says did not happen in their case. This was also the basis for a public outcry that alleged Bridgeport police, for whom Mayor Joe Ganim later apologized, dropped the ball.
Smith Fields' family says even though more than six months have passed, they have not yet receive the kind of substantive detailed updates from investigators they had hoped for.
