Leaders of local municipalities gathered Monday in Hartford to get a better feel for the cuts they face as state legislators prepare to take on a multimillion-dollar budget deficit this week.
Among the local leaders were Norwalk Mayor Dick Moccia and Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch, who both expressed concern about the rough road ahead if major cutbacks are made.
More than 80 percent of revenue in Norwalk and Bridgeport comes from property taxes, which both Moccia and Finch say is not enough under normal circumstances.
The Connecticut budget deficit for 2009 is projected to be between $193 million and $354 million.
