A Stamford surgeon is helping military personnel heal by reconstructing their skulls if they're injured in combat.
"We have many, many soldiers out there who are still suffering with their injuries and a number of those injuries are related to defects in their skull," says Dr. Peter Costantino, of the Brain & Spine Surgeons of NY.
He says while many people focus on the cosmetic aspects of skull reconstruction, the real benefits of these surgeries are functional and protective.
