Shopping malls across Long Island were packed with shoppers on the last weekend before Christmas and Hanukkah.
According to the National Retail Federation, this year's holiday season is expected to reach a new high.
Experts say consumers on average will spend a little over $900 between gifts, food, holiday decorations and other seasonal items.
"I think because prices are higher, I'm spending more this holiday season," explained one shopper.
Experts say the most popular gifts categories are clothing, gift cards and toys.
