The Weston community is mourning the loss of a long-serving city employee who died in a car accident Thursday afternoon.
Ron Parenteau worked at Weston Town Hall for more than three decades. He died Thursday when his car veered off the road and struck a tree on Georgetown Road, just a few miles away from where he worked. Firefighters and paramedics responded and watched as rescuers tried to perform CPR, but were unsuccessful. Police say it appears a medical condition caused him to lose control of the vehicle.
Those Parenteau worked with say he was weeks away from turning 70 and was preparing to retire. He was a maintenance worker, but his co-workers say he did so much more than what his job title entailed, calling him a Jack of all trades.
?He's also a stress reliever for employees,? says Sgt. Matthew Brodaki, who worked with Parenteau for a decade. He says Parenteau was a person Town Hall workers could turn to for anything.
Firefighters lowered their flag to half mast in his honor.
