The rupture of a major water main in Stratford Monday disrupted the lives of many residents and businesses in the downtown area.
The main break occurred at around 4 a.m. on Main Street near the Stratford Train Station overpass.
Eateries affected were closed by the Health Department until water was restored. While crews fixed the main by lunchtime, road repairs shut down Main Street until late Monday afternoon.
Some business owners claim the road repairs not only kept customers away, but kept them from making speedy deliveries.
Aquarion believes the recent freezing and thawing of the ground caused the main to burst.
