A North Carolina man is facing a slew of charges after twice hitting a Fairfield police officer with his car, authorities say.
Fairfield police say the incident happened just after midnight Saturday at the Fairfield Inn on Post Road. Police say Officer Scott Sudora got hit when Robert Metz started to drive away after the officer awoke the 64-year-old inside his car.
Metz now faces charges of driving under the influence, possession of cocaine and assault on an officer. Sudora was not seriously injured.
