A 77-year-old man was rescued by two strangers after falling through thin ice with his dog at Indian Well State Park Thursday.
Matt Legen, a Shelton police dispatcher, and his brother Joseph saw the man chasing after his dog when the ice he was on gave way. The brothers say that they didn't hesitate on jumping into the ice cold water and saving George Ciaccio.
"You could see the relationship between the dog and George and you just feel what he was going through, so it was just natural human reaction to want to help out," Matt Legen says.
Ciaccio considers himself lucky to be alive, explaining that the park is usually empty during this time of the year.
