It's been more than two weeks since Brian Laundrie disappeared in Florida with searches in the Carlton Reserve coming up empty.
Brian Laundrie was on a cross-country road trip with Gabby Petito but came home by himself on Sept. 1. Petito's body was later found in Wyoming.
The Laundrie family went camping after Brian suddenly came home from his trip without Gabby. Campground records obtained by News 12 show the Laundrie family reserved a site at the park from Sept. 6 until Sept. 8, just after Brian returned from his trip without his fiancée Gabby.
Laundrie is considered a person of interest in the case.
The group Peace River K9 Search and Rescue is working with Dog the Bounty Hunter to find Laundrie. They are following up on a tip on whether Laundrie could be or might have been on a remote island near Fort De Soto Park in Florida.
The founder of Peace River K9 Search and Rescue says the FBI will probably continue to monitor credit cards, money trails and phone traffic.
The Pinellas County Sheriff's office in Florida has now turned over surveillance video from that area to the FBI.
Law enforcement expert Ralph Cilento, of John Jay College of Criminal Justice, says this could be a promising lead.
"My guess is they've had that lead for some time, and you can only keep a lead quiet for so long given the 24-hour news cycle and how sensational this story is," says Cilento.
Laundrie's attorney says the FBI is in possession of a phone his client had purchased before he went missing.
