(AP) - Mayor Michael Bloomberg has signed into law thebill that changes term-limits law so that he can run again nextyear.
The bill-signing ceremony at City Hall drew dozens of NewYorkers who disagree with the way he and the City Council quicklyapproved the law change.
They told him that the voters should have had their say througha referendum. Voters twice approved term-limits in the 1990s.It was just one month ago that the mayor announced he wantedanother four years, arguing that the city needs him to stay on andmanage its finances through the economic downturn. The council heldtwo hearings and narrowly passed the law 10 days ago.
Under the previous term-limits law, officeholders were limitedto two consecutive four-year terms.
