Some Bronx CUNY students will no longer have to choose between getting an education or starting a career immediately if the mayor has his way.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg (R-NYC) recently announced the start of the Accelerated Study and Associate Program at several CUNY schools. The program aims to make college easier for students who choose to work. Bloomberg says studies have repeatedly proved that more education often leads to higher-paying jobs.
Under the program, classes are scheduled around students' work schedules and on-campus mentoring is available. Eligible students will receive textbooks and the program is free.
The Accelerated Study and Associate Program begins in September.
