The New York Mets honored Buddy Harrelson, a former World Series champion and Northport resident, who died from Alzheimer’s disease.
Nearly two dozen members of Harrelson’s family were there for the first time since their loved one died in January. Three of his grandchildren threw out the first pitch and three others caught it while a photo of their grandfather was shown on the big screen.
His family did it all while wearing Harrelson’s #3 jersey with a patch that the whole Mets team is wearing during the season.
