A state worker at Mid-Hudson Psychiatric Center in New Hampton pleaded guilty Thursday to animal abuse that resulted in the dog’s leg being amputated.
EDITOR'S NOTE: This story might be sensitive to some viewers.
Betty Ann Davis, from Bushkill, Pennsylvania, was caught on surveillance video last January throwing “Elli,” a 9-pound pomsky, five times off a two-story deck at a residence in Pike County, Pennsylvania.
Pennsylvania prosecutors say the abuse happened while the 49-year-old dog-sat for the dog’s owner, who was a longtime friend.
According to court officials, Davis pleaded guilty to aggravated animal cruelty and will be sentenced in March.
A representative for the New York State Office of Mental Health says Davis has been out on leave from the psychiatric center since shortly after her arrest. They say she remains on leave and has tendered her resignation effective next month.
It’s not clear what sentence Davis could be facing.
