Goodwill employees reported a shortage of donations Saturday, and blamed the faltering economy for their lack of supplies.

The Goodwill store in Milford is the main location for all of southwestern Connecticut, which usually supplies residents with clothing, house wares and other second-hand items. Employees say at this time of year, they are usually swamped with donations, though this December, they are experiencing a shortage.

Linda Guillette, the store manager, says she thinks people who may normally donate are giving some of their older possessions a little more time before they decide to donate them.

Besides clothes and house wares, Guillette hopes to fill her storage room with more furniture, toys, and other items that she can sell at low prices to people who are truly in need. Guillette says donations are always accepted.
