Milford police officers got hands-on training Thursday with the department's new drones.
Officials say biweekly training sessions with the department's two new, unmanned aircraft have been going on for about a month now.
The drones can use their cameras to view an area from up to 400 feet in the air and can even deliver payloads like supplies or life jackets to people in trouble.
Officers stress that while the drones may be fun to fly, they're not a toy -- they're a lifesaving tool.
Police say that in search-and-rescue situations, tools like drones could be the difference between a happy ending and a tragedy.
