Parents in Milford now have a place to go to on Fridays to get free lunch for their kids.
The Plate opened five years ago serving breakfast and lunch.
Owner Ryan Trevethan is now offering lunch for free to kids in the Milford school system every Friday.
Trevethan and his team pack up to-go bags with a sandwich, drinks and snack and hand them out curbside.
He says when the outbreak began, The Plate quickly moved to curbside and delivery. He says the customers stepped up, which made him want to return the favor.
Trevethan has three kids of his own in Milford public schools, which fueled his desire to help.
Trevethan passed out about 60 lunches last Friday, the first day of the effort.
The Plate gave away 90 lunches Friday.
Trevethan says free lunch Fridays will continue at least through the month of May. Pickup is from 12 p.m. until 2:30 p.m.
