A Milford woman was charged with driving under the influence after police say she struck a parked Fairfield police car while the officer was conducting a traffic stop.
Sharon Elizabeth Lipp, 58, was charged with driving under the influence, distracted driving, failure to drive right, failure to slow down and move over.
Police say the officer was conducting speed enforcement in the area of the Post Road near River Street Thursday when he conducted a motor vehicle stop of a vehicle speeding on the Post Road.
As the officer was standing outside of his vehicle speaking to the operator, his cruiser was struck from behind by a 2010 Ford Edge traveling east on the Post Road.
Police say the force of the collision sent the officer's car across both lanes where it came to rest in the westbound lane.
Lipp was transported to Bridgeport Hospital, but police say she did not have any life-threatening injuries.
The officer and driver of the other car were not injured.
Lipp was released on promise to appear, and is expected to be in court on Sept. 15.
