The coronavirus is taking away many events, but one girl’s birthday was saved thanks to a group in Monroe.

For her birthday, Alexa Krieg says she wished for a pogo stick, a disco ball and a way to celebrate with friends.
Thanks to generous souls in her community, all three were possible with a birthday car parade.

"This is the type of town where people truly love each other, neighbors love each other, we support anytime there's a crisis or trouble you'll see this entire community always banding together to support, lift, and love,” says Danielle Rownin, of Monroe.
The group has more than 20 parades scheduled for next week.
"It kind of like makes their days because you can see their faces light up when they get to see people celebrating their birthdays,” says Rownin.
Adrienne Stepkoski says she tries to lead as many as possible.
"One of the parents said that their son wrote in their journal for school that it was the best birthday ever,” says Stepkoski.
The group says the goal is for other communities to pick up the idea.
The group says even when things go back to normal, they're hoping the drive by birthday trend continues.
