A Bridgeport woman says her son was stabbed during a school fight that was caught on camera.
The fight took place on the athletic field at Harding High School, according to police.
Shawon Mercer says her 15-year-old son was stabbed during the fight with what police say might have been a pen.
"I expect him to be there for an education, not to get stabbed," Mercer says.
Medical records say Mercer's son was taken to Bridgeport Hospital where he was treated for stab wounds on his head, shoulders and chest. He was given a total of seven stitches and was later released.
Leaders in Bridgeport say they will be meeting with school officials to discuss the incident and a series of other violent incidents that have recently taken place on the school's campus.
Mercer says she wants the 18-year-old student who allegedly instigated the fight to be expelled.
School Superintendent Fran Rabinowitz says she is personally investigating the multiple complaints of violence at the school.
