Nine people have been murdered so far this year within the New York City Transit system, according to the NYPD.
The latest death is a 54-year-old man who was stabbed Tuesday night on the Coney Island- Stillwell Avenue subway station platform.
On Wednesday, News 12 pressed the MTA about its response to the stabbing and how it plans to make the transit system safer.
Much of that answer was put into the hands of the NYPD. However, MTA CEO Janno Lieber said security cameras in the train cars are a new addition that they believe are helping with crime.
He says overall subway crime is down and assures New Yorkers that the NYPD is good at their job in regard to subway safety.
