A replica whale boat built in 1976 is giving Darien residents some insight on events in their town from 1776.
First built in 1976, the Whaleboat Middlesex spent the last few decades on display at the Maritime Aquarium.
During the Revolutionary War, whale boats provided a marine militia that protected Connecticut residents from Tory raiders.
The Museum of Darien is giving people a chance to learn more about that history while helping local businesses.
The museum's executive director says they eventually would like to bring the boat to schools across the country.
The replica whale boat will be posted at different locations around town every week, and the museum will post clues on where to find the boat on its website.
