There are several new state laws that go into effect Tuesday.

The laws are set to impact a variety of topics and people, ranging from law enforcement, home health aides and your child's time on social media and the rest of the internet.

That includes enhanced online privacy protections for children.

Police will no longer be allowed to pause their body cameras when they're dealing with the public.

And home health aides will have more security - as their agencies will have to collect more background information on patients. The death of a nurse in Willimantic last year prompting a push for better protections.

State Senate Majority Leader Bob Duff was one of several lawmakers who advocated for online safety as a means to keep children away from illegal drugs, pornography, gambling, and other content online.

Changes to the state's Paid Leave Law also take effect.

And a law requiring those who intentionally harm or kill a police K-9 to pay restitution to the department.
