Several new laws are now in effect in Connecticut as the new year begins.
Undocumented residents in the state will now be able to obtain driver's licenses. Advocates say it will give them the ability to legally drive without having to worry about being deported.
Another new law that takes effect today will increase the state's minimum wage to $9.15 an hour.
