New Milford High School closes bathrooms to prevent student vaping
Students at New Milford High School said that many bathrooms in the school are closed during the school day as the school hopes to crack down on vaping.
The school shut down the second- and third-floor bathrooms during lunch periods. Only the first-floor bathrooms remained open. All bathrooms were closed during the five-minute switch between classes.
Students say it’s creating long lines and causing them to be late for classes. They started a petition against the policy that has garnered more than 300 signatures.
Superintendent Dr. Kerry Parker says they have decided to reopen the second-floor bathrooms after she and the principal met with the student who started the petition.
