Drivers looking to get more bang for their buck when it comes to getting a new car may want to consider buying electric.
A new state rebate program is offering drivers up to $3,000 off an electric car's sales price. Gov. Dannel Malloy announced the program today, and is hoping it will encourage people to buy more-efficient cars.
One benefit of having an electric car such as a Chevy Volt is that it can go up to 40 miles on a single charge before the backup gas tank kicks in. Leo Karl III, of Karl Chevrolet in New Canaan, says you can go about 320 miles on a tank.
Buyers can also get a $7,500 federal tax credit for purchasing an electric car. Karl says he hopes the incentives are enough to recharge sales.
