The Newtown Department of Public Works says it's ready for the first taste of winter that's set to fall on Thursday.
Workers cleaned out truck beds and got convayer belts ready for salt and sand as they converted the vehicles from summer to winter use.
Newtown has almost 300 miles of roads to plow this winter, as well as many hills. It has 3,000 tons of salt and sand ready to go, but officials say they wish Mother Nature would wait another month.
Crews will be pretreating the roads before the snow falls
The Newtown DPW also plans to meet with FEMA this week in hopes of getting a grant to recoup some money spent after this past May's tornado.
