Residents are calling for better safety precautions on a road in Newtown where two men died over the weekend.
Police say 20-year-old Elliot Gregory and 19-year-old Philip Zuvanich were pronounced dead at the scene after their Jeep Cherokee went off the shoulder and into a 100-foot ravine.
The crash closed the road for hours Sunday as police hoisted the vehicle out of the gully.
Witnesses say the entire top had been removed from the car.
Neighbors say this isn't the first crash they've seen in the area and that something needs to be done to make the state road safer.
There's no word from officials on what caused the wreck.
Newtown police released a statement that says in part, "Our hearts are heavy this morning and our prayers are with both families as they go through this most difficult time. Our community mourns with them."
