Firefighters in Trumbull braved the cold to raise money for one of their own, Capt. Jason DeManche, who needs a kidney transplant.
While the captain and his family wait for a match, there are a lot of medical expenses and travel involved.
Nichols’ firefighters say they want to help take away some of that financial burden for the family.
"The fire service enjoys a very good relationship with the community. When we ask for help, they're happy to give it because when they need help, they know we're going to come in the middle of the night, whether it's a car accident, a carbon monoxide alarm or a fire," said Fire Chief Jason Mumbach.
