There were no citations, arrests or significant incidents related to Fairfield University's SantaCon Saturday at Jennings Beach, police say.
Police say the smooth and orderly nature of the event is "testament to the strong collaboration among all partners and the cooperation of Fairfield University students."
"I'm grateful for the cooperation we saw today from students, residents, and our partner agencies. Our priority is always safety, and the positive outcome of this event reflects the shared commitment of everyone involved," said Chief Michael Paris.
This year's SantaCon was made a private event and town officials had warned students who did have tickets to avoid the area.
Changes were made to the annual event after students overcrowded the beach and littered last few years.
One change included heavy police presence in the beach and downtown areas.
Last month, a student was arrested for promoting a fake SantaCon event at private beach houses he had no connection to.
