A non-profit organization recently teamed up with Norwalk Community College to provide support for students with learning and social challenges.
College Steps partnered with Norwalk Community College last fall to support students.
College Steps offers nine students at NCC an individualized college plan outlining their goals in four areas; academics, employment, independent living skills and social skill development.
Michael Schiro, 18, is one of those students. The Stamford High School graduate is on the autism spectrum.
His mother says Schiro was rejected from several schools before finding the program.
Mary Schiro says she has seen amazing growth from her son since he has been enrolled.
Michael Schiro says he hopes to one day live and work in New York City.
