Nordstrom plans to open a three-floor, 150,000-square-foot store in Norwalk.
The store would be a part of a new shopping center on West Avenue.
Norwalk Mayor Harry Rilling says the department store is currently in the discussion phase of planning for the new store. Rilling says the store, which is expected to open in 2018, would help create job growth in the area.
"We still have 5.2 percent unemployment, and this will give an opportunity for people to go in, get jobs in their own community without having to travel to another part of the state," he says.
A Nordstrom representative says the company is excited about coming to Norwalk.
