The East Avenue United Methodist Church of Norwalk is closing after almost 150 years due to declining attendance and financial problems.
Jacqueline Watson Dayton says she has been a member of the church for 75 years and that the church has become like a home.
"Our children were baptized here," Dayton said. "We were married here. I taught Sunday school here."
The church will merge with Norwalk United Methodist Church on West Avenue to form a new church which will be known as Cornerstone Community Church.
