A Norwalk nonprofit partnered with the Bridgeport police department for an event designed to uplift young women Saturday.
Y.L. TRAPPED hosted Hot Girl's Summit at the Norwalk Green Saturday.
The nonprofit's mission is to develop young girls into empowered productive women by building strength, knowledge and self-confidence.
The goal of the event is to help build awareness about various topics that impact women ages 11 through 21 including mental health and self care.
"This is a labor of love for us. We are passionate about our young girls in the community, and bringing them together with women who are successful, women who care, women who can share with them regarding mental health challenges, and things we've done to overcome those obstacles to be successful in our lives -- so we feel passionate about giving back," said program director Valerie Jefferson.
