? While workers at the Norwalk Department of Public Works gear up for more snow, officials are looking at ways to pay for this year?s costly storm season.
Norwalk Mayor Dick Moccia admits the city has already plowed through its snow removal budget of $100,000.
City leaders are blaming timing for the budget shortfall. Many of this season?s storms have been overnight or on a weekend or holiday when workers are paid overtime and time-and-a-half.
The mayor says while roads will be cleaned and cleared, the administration will have to pull money from other departments or dip into the city?s savings to pay for it.
Norwalk is not the only community in southwestern Connecticut that is strapped for snow removal budget. Officials say Bridgeport, Stamford and Greenwich are facing the same issue.
