Norwalk police say they added security to religious centers in the wake of the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting.
They say the extra security began Saturday almost immediately after the shooting and will stay until police feel there's no longer any risk.
Officers will be patrolling Norwalk synagogues, several of which include schools.
Shirah Sklar, a rabbi and cantor of Temple Shalom, says she hopes parents can see the officers and feel a sense of ease while dropping their children off at school. She also says she doesn't want anyone to be deterred from practicing and embracing the Jewish faith.
Religious leaders with Temple Shalom say they've always had a great partnership with police and that they're constantly working together to improve the property's security measures, so this support was not a surprise but was appreciated.
