Norwalk Public School officials say a new year calls for new policies as the fight against COVID-19 continues.
Quarantine times in the district will now be reduced from 14 to 10 days, and teachers are required to start coming in to school buildings for remote instruction.
The decision to shorten quarantine time is from new CDC guidance. The rule changes announced Tuesday are set to take effect next Monday.
The Norwalk Federation of Teachers says teachers are being asked to take on more risk unnecessarily.
Education unions in November released a "Safe and Successful Schools Now" report, with recommendations for stricter statewide safety protocols.
Teachers are expected to be part of the 1B vaccination group that will be receiving shots in the next few months.
