The National Weather Service confirmed an EF1 tornado touched down Thursday from Bethany to North Haven.
Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont toured damage in North Haven and Branford, two of the hardest hit towns.
There were trees and power lines down in large sections of the town.
Connecticut National Guard teams have been deployed to clear trees and power lines.

This all comes weeks after Tropical Storm Isaias. United Illuminating has smart meters to pinpoint outages, but the head of the company says this is a very different storm because the damage is very concentrated. He's hopeful to bring everyone back on the grid Saturday.
"Very different kind of event," said United Illuminating President Tony Marone. "What you'll see, and you can see on our chart we have behind us here is, it's more of a swath of devastation, as opposed to an event that causes widespread tree damage onto our infrastructures."
Meanwhile, Eversource says trees are the problem. The company is facing criticism for its response to Isaias, which left some in the dark for as long as 10 days.
"There's been some drought in the state. There's some insect issues. We're working with the state; we're working with the tree wardens," said the Regional President of Eversource, Craig Hallstrom.
