The NYPD showed an increased presence as the Jewish community in Crown Heights celebrated the first day of Shavuot at the Chabad Lubavitch World Headquarters on Eastern Parkway.
More patrol cars and officers were on the ground in the area following a "terror attack" in Colorado.
The NYPD and the mayor's office acknowledged the attack on X saying there will be an increased NYPD at religious sites.
One Brooklyn man said he feels more law enforcement doesn't necessarily mean more safety.
"I feel like when you heighten security measures, it almost tries to forecast one," he told News 12.
Others disagreed.
"They work very hard and take these kinds of threats incredibly seriously. And that does go a long way to making our communities feel safer," said cantor Joshua Finkel from the Riverdale Temple.
The Jewish holiday will run until tomorrow evening.
